Engineer Doctor Abid Ali Minhas is a Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering. He did his PhD in Wireless Sensor Networks from Graz University of Technology, Graz, Austria from the department of Electrical Engineering. He won PhD scholarship from Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and completed his PhD with highest honour. He is recognized Professional Engineer by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). He is Approved Supervisor of HEC to supervise PhD students. He has the honour of starting PhD program in department of Computer Science and Engineering in 2007 in Bahria University (BU) and produced first PhD student in this department. He has been supervising students for their PhD dissertations, MS theses and undergrad projects in Austria, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He is author of a book and published about 55 research publications in International Journals and Conferences. He had been heading a research group Bahria University Wireless Research Center (BUWRC). This group included the activities related to wireless mobile communications/ Networks. A special interest group with name, “Wireless ad hoc Sensor Networks” was also working. He remained the Editor of “Bahria University Journal of Information & Communication Technology”. He was awarded the Best University Teacher Award for the year 2008, by HEC of Pakistan in 2009. He is member (expert – Electrical (Telecommunications/ Networking) of accreditation team proposed by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and acting as an expert. He has closely worked with accreditation processes of PEC, Pakistan, National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) Pakistan and National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA), Saudi Arabia. He has been awarded “Commitment to Excellence Certificate” for “outstanding performance and Exceptional Commitment to Quality during the NCAAA’s Institutional Accreditation Project” by President of Al Yamamah University along with handsome cash prize. He has successfully completed different types of teacher training courses/workshops including teacher training from Bradford University, UK, from Saudi Arabia and from Pakistan. He has experience of working in Funded Projects. He has been working in Bahria University, Islamabad, Pakistan for about 12 years. Before working in Bahria University, he worked in Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission as Senior Scientist from 1990 to 2001. He remained Head, Department of Graduate Studies and Applied Sciences, Bahria University, Islamabad Campus for about two years from Fall 2010 to Summer 2012 semester.
